As followers of Jesus, we have the honor and responsibility to showcase what it’s like to be both citizens and ambassadors of his Kingdom.
Values of Jesus’ Kingdom (love for the enemy, dignity for every person, humility, etc.) clash with the polarized rhetoric and dehumanizing behaviors sometimes seen in today’s society. At Oakhouse, we believe every moment as an opportunity to be more deeply formed into the embodiment of Jesus’ ministry and presence. Many of these formative moments show themselves most intensely in these heated, polarized environments around “hot” topics.
The Merge brings us together for conversations and tangible steps toward peacemaking around these "hot" topics. We discuss how our faith informs the way we engage by providing creative alternatives to the binaries of polarization. Our goal with The Merge is not to tell people what to think but to equip everyone with tools on how to think and respond in ways that most fully represent Jesus, his ministry, and his ethic.
